Privacy Policy

1. Summary

Hawk Agent is local-first and privacy-preserving. Your chat history, files, and settings are stored on your own device. We do not sell, share, or transmit your personal data to third parties except where you explicitly choose to send it (for example, sending a prompt to the AI model provider you configured).

2. What We Collect

We do not collect personal data. Hawk Agent does not phone home, does not include analytics or advertising trackers, and does not report usage statistics to us unless you opt in.

• No telemetry or analytics. The app contains no tracking, crash reporting, or usage analytics that sends data off your device.
• No advertising. Hawk Agent does not display ads or use ad SDKs.
• No automatic data transmission. The app never sends your data to us or to any server except when you choose to use an online AI model provider (see Section 4).

3. Data Stored Locally

The following data is stored only on your device and never leaves it unless you export or copy it:

• Chat history and session data — stored in a local SQLite database.
• Your configuration — including your AI model settings and API key, stored in a local config.yaml file.
• Memory, todos, goals, and reminders — stored in local databases within the install folder.
• Files you create or edit — written to the location you choose.

You are responsible for securing these local files. Deleting the app removes them from your device.

4. Third-Party AI Model Providers

Hawk Agent can connect to an AI model of your choice. When you configure the app to use an online provider (for example, OpenAI, OpenRouter, Groq, Google AI Studio, or Mistral), the prompts and context you send are transmitted to that provider so the model can generate a response. This data is handled by the provider, not by us.

Each provider has its own privacy policy and terms of service. We recommend reviewing the provider's policy before use. You may also use a locally-run model (for example, Ollama) so that no data leaves your computer at all.

5. Your API Key

Your AI provider API key is stored locally on your device in an encrypted-free plain-text config file. It is never transmitted to us. We strongly recommend keeping your API key secret and rotating it if you suspect it has been exposed.

6. Microsoft Store Users

If you obtain Hawk Agent through the Microsoft Store, the Store's own privacy practices also apply. Microsoft collects and processes data as described in the Microsoft Privacy Statement. Hawk Agent itself continues to collect no personal data, as described above.

• Microsoft account and licensing — handled by Microsoft under the Microsoft Services Agreement and Microsoft Privacy Statement.
• App data — remains on your device; the app does not send personal data to us.
• Store analytics — any usage analytics related to Store distribution is governed by Microsoft, not by the app developer.

7. Children's Privacy

Hawk Agent is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy here and update the "Last updated" date. Material changes will be communicated through the app or the download page.
